Disclaimer

Use Ghostie at your own risk.

Ghostie is a personal experiment released under the MIT license. It comes with no warranty and no support. By downloading, building, or running it, you accept that whatever happens next is on you.

No warranty

Ghostie is provided as is. It might mis-transcribe, mis-summarize, miss a call, crash mid-recording, or stop working after a macOS update. None of that comes with a promise to fix it, refund it, or do anything about it.

No liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, David Sjunnesson and any contributors are not responsible for any loss, damage, cost, or consequence — direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, or otherwise — arising from your use of, or inability to use, this software.

Transcripts and summaries are not the truth

Whisper hallucinates. Language models invent. Treat every transcript and summary as a draft to verify, not a record of what was said. Do not rely on Ghostie’s output for anything legal, medical, financial, or otherwise consequential without checking it against the source.

Recording is your responsibility

Laws about recording conversations vary by country, state, and province. In many places, recording without disclosure is illegal — and in employment contexts, it can be grounds for termination regardless of legality. Tell the people on your call. The choice to run Ghostie, and the consequences of doing so, are yours alone.

Third parties are their own kingdoms

Ghostie hands work off to Anthropic’s Claude, to your local Ollama install, to Hugging Face for model downloads, and to GitHub for updates. Their terms, outages, pricing changes, and policy shifts are not within Ghostie’s control or responsibility.

Your data, your machine, your problem

Ghostie writes audio, transcripts, and notes to your disk. Back them up. Encrypt them if they need encrypting. If something on your Mac breaks, gets corrupted, leaks, or disappears while Ghostie is installed, that is not a claim against the author of this software.

Not affiliated with Microsoft, Anthropic, or anyone else

Ghostie watches for Microsoft Teams and can hand transcripts to Claude. It is not endorsed by, sponsored by, or otherwise associated with Microsoft, Anthropic, OpenAI, Meta, Hugging Face, or any other company whose names appear on this site.

The software can change, or go away

Features can be removed, behavior can change between releases, and the project can be archived at any time without notice. Pin a specific release if you need stability.
